Access Statement

Introduction

Tythe Barn Cottage is a cosy, romantic cottage built in 1642 and still has many of the original features including the inglenook fireplace and beams. 

Tythe Barn is not suitable for children under six years of age 

It is a non smoking environment

Sorry no pets allowed

Pre-Arrival

I ask my guests to telephone me when they are approximately half an hour away from the cottage so that I can meet them up there, with the keys and show them around.  I feel that this is a great opportunity for you to be able to ask me any questions that have not already been answered during the booking process.

 Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

 Arrival is usually anytime after 2pm.  Parking is on the road, just outside the cottage

Accessibility

There are four steps from the road

The bottom step is 33cm deep – the other three steps are 28cm deep

Alternatively there is access via the pavement which has no steps approximately 10 yards from the car

There is then a half moon step which is 13cm deep

There is a small step at the front door approximately 7cm deep

The stable doorway is 74cm wide

Once inside the cottage there is a step leading to the kitchen which is 16cm deep

The doorway is 73cm wide

The doorway leading to upstairs is very narrow and steep

The door width is 58 cm

There are 7 stairs to the first part of the landing

There are 5 stairs that lead into the main bedroom

Each stair is approximately 20 cm deep

Bathroom

 There is a washbasin, toilet and bath which has the old fashioned telephone type shower attachment for rinsing hair.
